Impact+

Impact+

Impact+ is a range of polymeric impact modifiers based on functionalized elastomeric polymers, produced through reactive extrusion. It enhances toughness, impact strength, and low-temperature ductility — down to −40°C — in engineering thermoplastics like PE, PC, and polyamide (nylon).
Built for automotive, electrical, electronic, and building applications that demand reliable impact resistance.

Description

Impact+ — Polymeric Impact Modifiers for Increasing Strength in Moulded Products

What Is Impact+ ?

Impact+ is a range of polymeric impact modifiers based on functionalized elastomeric polymers, produced through reactive extrusion. It is used to enhance the toughness, impact strength, and low-temperature ductility of engineering thermoplastics — particularly polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), and polyamide (nylon).

Industries We Serve

Thermoplastics such as PE, PA, PC/ABS, PBT, PET, and PC/PBT alloys are widely used in:

  • Building materials
  • Automotive
  • Electrical
  • Electronic industries

Significant segments of these markets require improved impact resistance — and that’s exactly where Impact+ is engineered to perform.

Why Impact+ Works

  • Impact+ modifiers are based on functionalized elastomeric polymers produced through reactive extrusion.
  • Ethylene copolymers with high monomer content — and therefore good elastomeric behaviour — can be successfully used as impact modifiers.
  • When dispersed properly in the polymer matrix, Impact+ delivers excellent performance in modifying:
    • Polyethylene (PE)
    • Polycarbonates (PC)
    • Polyamides (nylon / PA)
  • Impact+ modifiers improve the overall toughness of polymers. Under optimal dispersion, the rubbery phase of the Impact+ modifier enhances impact strength and elongation.
  • Enhanced Ductility at Low to Very Low Temperatures
    • At higher addition levels, Impact+ modifiers provide enhanced ductility in polyamide (nylon) blends at low temperatures — down to −40°C — while maintaining good heat resistance.
    • The inherently low glass transition temperature (Tg) of Impact+ modifiers provides enhanced ductility down to very low temperatures.
    • With optimal dispersion during compounding, the rubbery Impact+ phase acts as a stress concentrator, leading to excellent impact properties even in extreme conditions.

Recommended Dosage

For efficient reinforcement of the polymer matrix, Impact+ can be added at levels of:

0.5 to 5 PHR (Parts per Hundred Resin) — or higher, depending on the desired properties.

Your dosage should be tuned to the target impact strength, elongation, and low-temperature ductility your end-use requires.

Faq

What is Impact+ used for?

Impact+ is a polymeric impact modifier used to improve the toughness, impact strength, elongation, and low-temperature ductility of thermoplastics — particularly polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), and polyamide (nylon).

How does Impact+ improve the toughness of plastics?

Impact+ is based on functionalized elastomeric polymers. When optimally dispersed in the polymer matrix during compounding, the rubbery Impact+ phase acts as a stress concentrator — absorbing and redistributing impact energy before it can cause failure. This results in higher impact strength and elongation.

Which polymers can be modified with Impact+?

Impact+ delivers excellent performance in modifying polyethylene (PE), polycarbonates (PC), and polyamides (nylon).

What is the recommended dosage of Impact+?

Impact+ grades can be added at levels of 0.5 to 5 PHR or higher, depending on the desired properties. Higher dosages are used when enhanced ductility at low temperatures is required.

Can Impact+ improve performance at low temperatures?

Yes. At higher addition levels, Impact+ provides enhanced ductility in polyamide (nylon) blends at temperatures down to −40°C, while maintaining good heat resistance. This is enabled by the inherently low glass transition temperature of Impact+.

How is Impact+ manufactured?

Impact+ polymeric modifiers are produced through reactive extrusion, using ethylene copolymers with high monomer content for good elastomeric behaviour.

In what form is Impact+ supplied?

Impact+ is available as free-flowing pellets, supplied in 25 kg bags. It should be stored under normal, dry conditions.
